When Lauren and Tyler reached out to me about their NYC wedding, I was thrilled. I felt a very strong connection to them from our first meeting and by the time their wedding came around, I felt as though it had been a lifetime. I first had a chance to take their photos during their engagement shoot in Central Park the fall of 2019. Their wedding was originally set for March 2020 at the Metropolitan Club on the Upper East side in NYC. Like so many other couples in 2020, Lauren and Tyler chose to have a micro wedding when their original plans were interrupted by COVID restrictions. They ended up needing to cancel just one week before their wedding due to the state lockdown. My heart absolutely broke for them.
A NYC Wedding Became a Gorgeous Connecticut Micro Wedding
When they postponed their wedding – until September 2020 – they ended up moving the wedding to Connecticut. Although it wasn’t their original plan, I don’t think the day could have been anymore incredible. GrayBarns’ is a venue with impeccable style, combining that perfect colonial Connecticut vibe with a bit of old Hollywood elegance. But it was Lauren and Tyler that brought it all to life. From her perfect details, to her incredible dress, to their warm smiles and all the care they took to make the entire day and evening feel completely personal and full of love and laughter. I so wish I could put into words the love I have for Lauren and Tyler. They are an incredible couple and this was an incredible start to their love story.
Micro Wedding Inspiration
Although 2020 looked nothing like I imagined it would at the start of the year (my calendar was fully booked with weddings!), I have to say that these micro weddings have had my absolute whole heart. When you choose a smaller guest list, you can go large on details. After photographing countless micro weddings this year, I can tell you the atmosphere is always so warm and inviting. It definitely does not feel like a backup plan (even if it was for many couples this year). If you are looking for an editorial wedding photographer in Upstate New York, please don’t hesitate to reach out here. I know that these times can be stressful, but nothing would warm my heart more than to be your guide through this process and take images that tell your love story.
