If we have learned anything in the past year, it’s that love can’t wait. When Alexa and Marty reached out about wedding photography, it was only a few weeks before their wedding date. I will never turn down an opportunity to visit the Finger Lakes, and fortunately I had their date free. I was so excited. When they mentioned they were using a family home on Skaneateles Lake, I knew we would have the most incredible views. On paper it might have been a backyard wedding, but in reality this was as much as anyone could ask for. Glorious sunshine, lakeside views and lush verdant countryside made for the idyllic setting for al fresco dining and dancing. 

Looking back at these photos (and feeling a bit nostalgic), I still can’t believe they planned their entire wedding in just a few weeks! Never has there been a day when everything and everyone felt so full of life; truly a classic. An Intimate Backyard Wedding in Finger Lakes, New York

Alexa and Marty decided on an intimate wedding at a family home with only their siblings in the wedding party. Alexa’s sisters were her bridesmaids and Marty’s brothers were the groomsmen. Having the wedding at home, they also got to include their dog! Honestly, the relaxed atmosphere and timeline of the day was such a breath of fresh air. With micro weddings, you can often be more flexible with your timeline and enjoy your wedding day however you see fit. Alexa and Marty wanted to have a good time with their closest family and friends and that’s exactly what they had!

Finger Lakes Wedding Photos

Their outdoor wedding ceremony was absolutely breathtaking overlooking Skaneateles Lake. I really enjoyed capturing all of the details of this incredible wedding and I’m still in awe that this came together in only a few short weeks. After the ceremony, we took a few photos in front of the water. They also rented an antique boat for some sunset wedding photos and honestly, they are some of my favorites from the entire day! The uniqueness of the boat and the fun personalities of Alexa and Marty came together flawlessly.
