I am overjoyed to share Kaela + Derek’s micro wedding at Nissequogue Golf Club with you all on the blog today. It’s hard to believe this wedding was almost a year ago (last September!). As things start to return to “normal”, it already feels like another lifetime. Kaela and Derek chose to downsize their original Nissequogue Golf Club wedding plans into a micro wedding that hosted only their closest family and friends. When I look back at these photos, it brings me right back to what an incredible wedding day it was.
Over the last year, many couples chose to host a micro wedding instead of postponing their wedding. Although a micro wedding wasn’t necessarily their first choice, this gorgeous Nissequogue golf club wedding truly didn’t feel like a sacrifice. I would have never believed it wasn’t their first choice.
Long Island Wedding Locations
Kaela and Derek filled their wedding day with countless personal touches. I started the day with Kaela and her wedding party for their classic getting ready photos, and then took photos of the groom-to-be celebrating with his wedding party. During that time, I was also able to capture photos of all of the gorgeous details that made the day as incredible and special as it was. Although detail photos may not be the ones you hang on your wall, they bring you back into the moment where you planned each and every detail of starting your life together. The perfume you chose, the jewelry you wore, the invitations you sent out to your beloved guests. Truly they are some of my favorite wedding photos to take.
A Traditional Aisle Reveal At A Long Island Church Ceremony
After their getting ready photos, Kaela shared a sweet and intimate first look with her dad. Kaela and Derek chose to have a traditional aisle reveal at their church ceremony. If you are considering a first look or an aisle reveal, please don’t be afraid to ask your photographer for advice. If you are looking for a New York wedding photographer, I would love to hear from you here.
Kaela and Derek’s wedding ceremony was completely moving, and when they exited the church there was so much joy in the air. Everyone was ready to celebrate! After, they jumped in their incredible Rolls Royce getaway car which served two purposes: getting them to their reception venue for photos and giving them a moment alone as Newlyweds! I always encourage the wedding couple to squeeze a few moments together in their timeline and a getaway car is the perfect opportunity. Once they arrived at Nissequogue Golf Club, we took a few more portraits with just the two of them, and then brought in the rest of the wedding party!
Outdoor Tented Wedding Reception at Nissequogue Golf Club
The stately mansion (with panoramic views of Long Island’s North Shore) would typically be the setting for a much larger gathering. If you are looking for an incredible wedding venue in Long Island, it would certainly fit the bill. Like I mentioned earlier, Kaela and Derek had to adjust their wedding to accommodate the new pandemic restrictions. If you ever felt like a micro wedding wouldn’t have all of the elements of a more traditional affair, Kaela and Derek’s wedding will prove you wrong. We captured all of the traditional wedding reception moments. From the entrance, to the heartwarming toasts, to the sparkler exit. Truly, the only thing that was micro was the guest count.
