I love every wedding day I’m entrusted to document, but there is something about a wedding weekend that hits different. When Kate and Sean invited me to capture their weekend wedding in Spring Lake, NJ, I couldn’t wait to pack my bags. They had split their wedding day between two days. What started with an intimate wedding in her Godmother’s backyard on Friday (with champagne and cake!), was followed by a more formal wedding reception on Sunday, where they picked back up the celebration with family and friends. Throughout the weekend, Kim and Sean truly embraced the destination wedding water vibes. I can’t wait to share a little bit of that spirit with you on the blog today.
Backyard Wedding Ceremony in Spring Lake
On Friday afternoon, Kate and Sean exchanged vows during an intimate backyard wedding ceremony. Kate’s Godmother’s backyard made the most idyllic outdoor wedding location. On top of that, there was so much joy in the room as Kate got ready with her mother, sister, and sweet dog Banjo. Their sweet pup stole the show on more than one occasion.
After a short and sweet wedding ceremony, everyone enjoyed a champagne toast and quick cake cutting (with a celebratory confetti cake – naturally). From there, we captured a few family and couple portraits. Before long, I bid farewell letting the newlyweds relax until the festivities resumed on Sunday!
Sunday Wedding Reception at Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club
On Sunday, we met back at her Godmother’s place. But this time, we were surrounded by Kate’s closest friends, all wearing mismatched floral dressed. These women were as stunning as they were joyful. Before the reception, we captured more traditional wedding portraits on her Godmother’s property. Then, we headed to Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club for the wedding reception!
As a fine art wedding photographer, I can’t help but be mesmerized when a couple combines a beautiful and elegant wedding reception setup with playful energy. Weddings should be as fun as they are gorgeous – and this one definitely was that. Surrounded by a soft color palette, guests took “shot skis,” and Kate dropped jaws with her reception dress (it was so fun!).
Kate and Sean’s wedding weekend in Spring Lake was such an incredible experience. Personally, I could not have been more delighted to capture these memories for the two of them.
