Although Kayla and Justin live in New York City now, Kayla grew up in the Syracuse/Skaneateles area. For their wedding, they wanted to share the magic of the Finger Lakes with their guests, most of which were friends and family from New York City as well. Living in Upstate New York myself, I love when couples venture here to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city and enjoy a destination wedding weekend with all of their guests. It always feels so intimate, you truly have a chance to connect and share something special with your guests. In my humble opinion, there are also no other locations as stunning as the Finger Lakes region of New York. I know I’m always counting down the days until my next trip. It truly never gets old.
Emerson Park Pavilion Wedding
For her getting ready photos (which is when I have the chance to capture the stunning detail shots you always see on the blog!), Kayla got ready at The Sherwood Inn with her two sisters (bridesmaids), Mom, and her mothers best friend. Beauty was on full display for this one, from the stunningly beautiful bride, to her handsome groom, to the adorable flower girls who melted everyone’s hearts.
Kayla and Justin had a first look before the wedding ceremony, which I always love. We were able to capture a majority of the traditional bride and groom portraits and then when we arrived at the Emerson Park Pavilion, they could be fully present and feel all of the emotions during their wedding ceremony. Trust me, with a more traditional “aisle reveal”, your ceremony can end up being full of nerves! You don’t want to worry about ‘ugly crying’ or your eyelash falling off as you walk down the aisle.
An Outdoor Wedding in Finger Lakes, New York
Mother Nature deserves a special shout out for doing her part and letting the panoramic lake views and the expansive lawns of the Emerson Park Pavilion shine in all their glory! From the outdoor wedding ceremony to the wedding photos afterword, the sun absolutely shone for Kayla and Justin. Their wedding reception took place inside (and make sure to scroll for the photos because their decor was absolutely gorgeous). We snuck out to take even more wedding photos later in the evening. It was a truly incredible day from start to finish.
